That's a great point Chris... I'm sure you're right that anonymous posts are here to stay. And as with many innovations in social media, all things abhorred eventually gain acceptance.

Reports about the early demise of SEO are incorrect. If you think SEO is dead, well then your website is probably dead. Google got it right – relevancy. Get people directly to the page they need to get to. The home page is a barrier to entry i...

Sheila, as you probably know from reading my other posts out here, I am a big proponent of anonymous reviews/posts. While it is true that anonymous postings prevent the business from contacting the patient back directly, given the way the "traditi...

Wow - what a great post! It caused me to wonder how the tide will go with registered posts vs. anonymous posts. While businesses can (and should) listen to their user base and correct patterns of inadequacy, anonymous posts prevent businesses from...

Eric - "co-operative brand building" is a great term. Sometimes our greatest brand champions were once detractors that got turned around through addressing their issues and concerns. Jim - Yes, at base, Social Media is just another venue for cust...

Patrick.. nicely done and well put. I continually try to push the point that Social Media (for business) is simply an extension of Customer Service. Of course smart companies bleed a little marketing into their customer service departments. They d...

About Me

I am a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) analyst for the leading healthcare ratings company in the U.S. by day, and a Social Media Optimization (SMO) superhero by night. My secret power is understanding the mysterious connection between these two online traffic drivers, and how they can lead healthcare companies to marketing success.

The internet world is here to stay, and is only ignored at your company’s peril. Having internet experts to guide your online strategy in parallel with your “offline” marketing efforts is a must if you desire to have a three-dimensional, 360-degree impact. You need someone on your team that “gets it.”

A bit more about myself:
I have been a webmaster for over 10 years, specializing in SEO the past two. I enjoy snowboarding, motorcycling, hiking, weightlifting, travel, the mechanics of social interaction, and particle physics (okay, the last one was a blatant lie lie lie). I have a dog named Anubis, named after the Jackal-headed Egyptian god of death, but he was too cute, so he now goes by the name ‘Nubi.’

The Ecology of Online Marketing

Digg!

Aquariums are enclosed ecosystems filled with aerators, pebbles, fake coral and, oh yeah: fish. The fish are ones that play well together, won’t eat each other and are chosen for certain characteristics: fast moving, synchronized swimmers, colorful, or algae scum-eating. A well-designed aquarium exists in harmony and takes the minimal housekeeping of clean… Continue
